Maypro Industries has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Waleria Healthtech to market Aspurus, a clinically studied full-spectrum Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) root extract, in the United States.

The addition of Aspurus expands Maypro’s growing women’s health portfolio with a botanical ingredient designed to address the evolving needs of women across different life stages.

“Aspurus brings together a defined full-spectrum phytochemical profile, clinically studied dosing and a growing body of human research across women’s life stages,” said May Yamada-Lifton, CEO of Maypro. “For brands, Aspurus opens the door to a more targeted approach to women’s health, one that recognizes that women’s needs evolve across reproductive years, perimenopause and menopause. We believe Aspurus gives brands the science and versatility to create more relevant, life-stage-specific solutions for women.”

Unlike other shatavari extracts, Aspurus is characterized by a broader spectrum of seven naturally occurring shatavarins and is standardized to 5% shatavarins. This full-spectrum approach provides the foundation for a clinical research program examining multiple dimensions of women’s health across distinct life stages.

“We wanted a partner that truly understood what we have built at Waleria: putting women at the center of ingredient innovation and developing Aspurūs® around women’s changing needs across life stages,” said Komal Baldwa, founder & CEO, Waleria Healthtech. Maypro’s market expertise and strong relationships give us the opportunity to bring our science to the right brands and formulators across the USA. We’re excited to take Aspurūs® to its next stage.”

Because Shatavari contains multiple steroidal saponins and other phytochemicals, Aspurus was developed around preserving the broader botanical matrix rather than concentration of a single marker compound, the company reported. This full-spectrum approach is particularly relevant to women’s health, where clinical outcomes can involve multiple physiological systems and pathways.

The three levels of specification include:

  • Identification of seven Shatavarins, providing broader characterization of the naturally occurring bioactives in Shatavari root.
  • Standardization to 5% total Shatavarins, providing a defined quantitative specification.
  • Preservation of the native phytochemical profile ratio of the Shatavari root in the finished extract.

Perimenopause Study

The recent study on Aspurus in the management of perimenopause symptoms provided a broad evaluation of women’s health during the menopausal transition. Published in the Journal of Dietary Supplements, the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study included 150 women ages 35–55 who received 500 mg of Aspurūs daily for 12 weeks.

“What stands out about the Aspurus research is how comprehensively it looks at the perimenopause experience,” said Lauren Clardy, senior director of scientific affairs at Maypro. “Perimenopause is not defined by one symptom. Women may simultaneously experience changes in temperature regulation, sleep, mood, cognition, energy, physical comfort and sexual well-being. Rather than looking at these concerns in isolation, this study evaluated them together using multiple clinically relevant endpoints, validated symptom scales and objective hormone biomarkers. That gives us a much more complete picture of the perimenopause experience and a stronger scientific foundation for product development.”

After 12 weeks, Aspurus supplementation was associated with significant improvements across several clinically relevant domains, including vasomotor symptoms, cognitive impairment, anxiety, aches and physical discomfort, sexual symptoms, stress and fatigue. The research also identified clinical changes in selected endocrine and stress-related biomarkers, providing objective biological measures alongside validated symptom assessments.

  • 74.6% reduction in fatigue from baseline
  • 66.2% reduction in hot flash frequency from baseline
  • 51.8% reduction in perceived stress from baseline
  • 44.9% reduction in brain fog frequency and intensity from baseline

Aspurus’ clinical program also includes an earlier randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in peri- and post-menopausal women evaluating outcomes including hot flashes, sleep, mood, vaginal dryness and quality of life.

A third clinical study, recently published in Journal of Medicine and Life, expands the research platform into sexual wellness and libido in reproductive-age women.
